What is Metal Fabrication?
Metal Fabrication Experts
Metal fabrication is the design, cutting, bending, and general assembly of a product or component with metal. Making it a versatile solution for a wide range of uses and applications. With a variety of metals and choice of machinery, a skilled technician can manufacture almost anything.
The process for any product begins at the design table. Where a person determines the application and can begin the design. They can then work with a metalworker or other expert to complete the design and define dimensions, tolerances, and other requirements.
With a design in hand, an appropriate metal is selected, and the fabrication process can begin. Depending on the design, some components may have to be cut by a CNC machine, maybe some plate rolling.
After the fabrication process is complete. An inspection verifies that the work meets all the criteria set forth by the design. This is where they would look for irregularities or other issues from the fabrication process and work to correct them.
A skilled shop can handle the entire process. Where they can advise, design, fabricate, and deliver a complete product.

What is a Metal Fabricator?
When we consider the process for any metal fabrication, we can define a metal fabricator in two ways. One being a skilled worker and the second an automated process.
A skilled worker undergoes training in metalwork and possesses a knowledge of operating the equipment required for metal handling. They can take a design and perform most, if not all, the tasks required for any metal fabrication.
An automated process uses a robot, accompanying software, and hardware to complete a repeating task.
Both approaches have their advantages and disadvantages. For example, a robot will reduce production time and have an increased capability for working long hours. But a worker brings insight, the capability of detecting issues during production, and adjusting accordingly.
The requirements of a project determine the type of metal fabricator. For highly specialized components or assemblies, a worker may be a better choice. But for large-quantity production, an automation solution may be a better fit.
What do Metal Fabricators do?
Metal fabricators assemble metal components from a design.
Some applications require the same type of weld for every assembly, which is perfectly suited for an automated solution. Where a computer-controlled machine follows a simple design and manufactures the same component.
Applications include things like car chassis, larger components for large equipment, and other parts that do not need super precise or clean welding.
For metal fabrication that requires higher attention to detail and skilled welding, a person is better suited. They can follow a design and perform all the assembly tasks with a higher precision. This is especially useful for custom components or highly specialized projects.
The tricky part may be finding the best solution for your needs. But in that case, we are ready to help. Benefit from our decades of experience in delivering the best customer experience. We aim to exceed all your expectations and deliver quality solutions. The first time.
